It's
no secret that satisfied employees often make better employees. While
employee satisfaction is not the only ingredient needed for engagement and organizational
performance, it is a prerequisite. The cost
associated with not assessing and addressing employee satisfaction
perceptions is high and include:
- Direct
Costs fall into two categories; separation costs and replacement
costs. Separation costs include severance pay, costs associated
with lost organizational productivity, and possible litigation costs,
particularly for involuntary separation. Replacement costs include recruiting,
interviewing, onboarding, processing, orientation, and training expenses.
- Indirect
Costs of turnover can be even more
significant. Valuable experience and relationship capital is lost, often resulting in reduced productivity and morale among remaining employees.
Administering a survey via a third-party has numerous advantages; these include professional reporting, benchmarking, and more candid responses by employees (real and perceived preseveration of confidentiality).
